I see the quote from the international criminal court regarding crimes against humanity. The one thing I have learned from this covid debacle is that written laws can be ignored or deemed irrelevant when the political class declare an emergency, how convenient for them. All I could see during the hysteria induced "pandemic" was rights of humans being dismantled in nearly every country with little resistance. For me our human rights can be switched off at will and are seemingly not worth the paper they are written on, again all they have to do is declare another emergency, any emergency will suffice.

I think other jurisdictions may eventually follow the lead of the Scottish Covid Enquiry but only when the 'trail has gone cold'. The way most people deal with an administrative catastrophe like Covid is similar to grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally, acceptance. As a society we're not very far along that path with some further than others.

One positive is that the credentialed classes still have a few among them with probity and integrity. This was evidently in short supply in the pandemic response years.

One negative is that strident statements like the above closing statements inevitably cause the guilty parties to adopt an ever more defensive position - to 'double down'. This just prolongs the recovery.
